Symbol of Christmas:
In the Nativity story, it was an angel who brought the good news of Christ's birth to the shepherds. We can find that account in Luke chapter 2.
"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord....And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."At Christmas time, the angel reminds us of the good tidings of great joy, that Christ was born and that He is our Savior. When we look at the angel on top of the tree, as an ornament, or as part of our Nativity, I hope we can feel even a small part of the happiness and joy the shepherds must have felt when they saw the multitude of heavenly hosts. And let's not forget to share that joy and happiness with those around us, not just at this time of year, but always.
